Summary

The Liberal Party of Canada (LPC) is seeking an Animator and Video Content Strategist to join a dedicated team of staff to support Justin Trudeau and our Liberal team’s work to keep Canada moving forward.

Reporting to the Director of Communications, you will plan, film, animate, and edit projects for the Liberal Party of Canada’s social media and online engagement programs and provide added creative support for the Leader of the party, Justin Trudeau, and our Liberal MPs/candidates and teams across Canada.

What you’ll be doing

  • Develop motion graphics for videos, websites, and animated GIFs
  • Actively participate in content creation, including brainstorming and pitching content ideas not limited to video
  • Work with the Creative team to ensure that all video and motion graphics products follow the most up-to-date visual guidelines
  • Plan, shoot, edit and otherwise produce video products, including messages from the Leader, the party president, Liberal Members of Parliament, and LPC staff, in close coordination with LPC social media and communications teams, as needed
  • Draft scripts, including policy explainers, and fundraising and promotional videos
  • Assist with the planning and production of national virtual events
  • Maintain a database of audio and video assets
  • Maintain the studio and all studio equipment (including cameras, lights, microphones, etc.), and make recommendations on new purchases
  • Keep up to date with technology and best practices
  • Work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with shifting priorities and operational objectives
  • Work unusual hours and periods at an accelerated pace, as required, often balancing short deadlines and competing priorities
  • Be available evenings and weekends
  • Undertake occasional travel within Canada, as required

You’ll need to have

  • A strong portfolio of motion graphics work and video editing
  • Experience with digital technology and editing software (e.g. Adobe Premiere, Adobe After Effects, etc.)
  • A creative mind and storytelling skills, with an understanding of timing, motivation, and narrative
  • Confidence in video production, attention to continuity, lighting, and sound quality
  • Familiarity with post-production work, including animation, video effects, colour-correction, sound editing, and video rendering
  • Good understanding of branding and working within established visual identity guidelines
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • A track record as a self-starter, able to handle multiple projects at a time
  • Strong writing skills
  • Other graphic design experience and familiarity with related software packages (e.g. Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign)
  • Ability to communicate in both of Canada’s official languages
  • Political experience
