Summary

The Liberal Party of Canada is seeking a Finance Officer – Accounts Payable for an opportunity to join a dedicated team of staff to support Justin Trudeau and the Liberal team.

Reporting to the Manager of Accounting, the Finance Officer Position is responsible for various accounting and analytical activities and provide support to payables standards; and to assist the Controller as needed.

What you’ll be doing

  • Entering and verifying expense claims and procurement cards, processing vendor invoices, and working on other documentation related to Accounts payable with established procedures
  • Post expense reimbursement requests, including review of receipts, calculation of the HST refund and review of approvals
  • Prepare and issue EFT/cheques in timely manner in accordance with payment policy and due dates
  • Corporate credit card reconciliation and integration into the accounting system
  • Maintain and administer Expense Reporting System and invoice-filing system
  • Administer vendor database and set up new vendors as necessary
  • Assist with month-end process and accounts reconciliation
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly finance reports
  • Assist with the preparation of quarterly and annual Elections Canada reports
  • Assist with the improvement of internal control around AP processes
  • Provide support for special projects, statutory reporting and audit requirements
  • Other duties as required

You’ll need to have

  • Graduation from a college accounting certification program or higher
  • Minimum 1 to 3 years’ experience in accounting related field
  • Bilingualism fluency, English/French both spoken and written is mandatory
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word), including the use of pivot tables
  • Prior experience with Great Plains including accounts receivable, accounts payable and general ledger modules
  • Ability to delegate and lead others as required
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and deadlines while maintaining attention to detail
  • Ability to work either independently or with little supervision
  • Knowledge of GAAP and if possible Elections Canada regulation and reporting requirements is an asset
