The Liberal Party of Canada is seeking a new Manager, National Events for an opportunity to join a dedicated team of staff to support Justin Trudeau and the Liberal team.

The Manager, National Events will serve as a fundraiser and relationship builder for the LPC’s fundraising activities across Canada. They will join a team of fundraising professionals responsible for growing a portfolio of fundraising programs including the Laurier Club, Victory Fund, and other donor development programs. The Manager, National Events works with key, supporters and volunteers to achieve fundraising goals.

What you’ll be doing

  • Execute on annual goals, targets and metrics to ensure that fundraising events are effective, efficient, and successful.
  • Contribute to overall annual and strategic planning processes and monitor benchmarks to ensure National Event revenue growth and program success.
  • Track competitive fundraising activities to ensure events adopt best practices.
  • Serve as a key member of our fundraising team, participating in developing strategies to achieve department-wide goals.
  • Oversee a process for identifying and vetting hosts and lead the strategy development of cultivating and stewarding prospective and current hosts before, during and post events.
  • Work closely with the Compliance team to ensure on-time and on-budget contract management.
  • Work closely with volunteers and fundraising co-chairs, and create lasting relationships with each, conducting outreach on a regular basis to ensure engagement with our movement.
  • Positively represent the Liberal Party of Canada in the community.
  • Provide strong, effective leadership and mentorship to direct staff.
  • Perform cross-functional duties, as assigned.

What you’ll need to have

  • Three to five years of major leadership giving experience with a demonstrated track record of success in event management.
  • An understanding of philanthropy in a political setting and knowledge of the Liberal Party of Canada and its Constitution.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; superior listening skills.
  • Diplomatic and outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to inspire confidence and trust amongst all stakeholders, acting ethically and responsibly in all interactions.
  • Ability to understand the needs and interests of individual donors and volunteers in order to develop mutually beneficial relationships.
  • Work with senior Volunteers as required to manage prospect identification, solicitations and stewardship activities.
  • Ability to think strategically and manage competing priorities while meeting deadlines.
  • Strong computer literacy and database experience. Knowledge of MS Office and Salesforce an asset.
  • University degree or relevant college diploma in events, fundraising and/or public relations is strongly preferred or an equivalent combination of training and experience; CFRE/FAHP an asset.
  • Ability to converse in French is an asset.
  • Some travel may be required
