Location Ottawa, ON Summary The Liberal Party of Canada is seeking Web Developer for an opportunity to join a dedicated team of staff to support Justin Trudeau and our Liberal team’s work to keep Canada moving forward. Reporting to the Senior Director of Communications, the Web Developer will play a lead role in the front- and back-end development of the Liberal Party of Canada’s websites, and web-based organizing and fundraising tools, plus the integration of various marketing and data platforms, in cooperation with the other members of the team and wider organization. Key Responsibilities Develop and maintain the Liberal Party of Canada web codebase Work with internal stakeholders to develop organizing and fundraising tools Ensure proper integration of various marketing/data platforms, such as BSD and SalesForce Help develop and maintain solid, long-term web strategy, and ensure LPC web properties are equipped to handle large spikes in traffic Continuously curate ways to improve UI and UX of LPC web properties, including regular variable testing and reporting Work with the design team to ensure overall look of all web properties is consistent and up to date Capture and analyze appropriate website metrics to develop best practices and inform future decisions Report on web design and development trends, and research and evaluate new technologies Other duties as required Requirements Significant programming experience in PHP, MySQL, Javascript, and CSS, as well as the WordPress framework Experience with modern development workflows including GIT, Vagrant, gulp.js/grunt.js, staging and production servers Experience with advanced Javascript frameworks such as react.js or angular.js A solid understanding of web standards, web accessibility and UI/UX best practices Previous experience with variation testing, conversion optimization and their implication in the development schedule/workflow Resourceful and strong troubleshooting skills Good judgement with the ability to make quick and decisive decisions Knowledge of how web works within a digital marketing ecosystem (social, email, etc.) Team player with keen sense of personal organization, time management and discipline Working Conditions Must be comfortable working in a fast paced, dynamic environment with shifting priorities and operational objectives Must excel at building consensus in a multi-stakeholder team environment May be required to work unusual hours and periods at an accelerated pace NOTE ー This position is based in Ottawa, ON.
